Image from Anitsu's original edition. Koei Tecmo and Gust have confirmed that The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother will launch on March 18, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. This is the first console video game adaptation of the anime, featuring a completely new story supervised by author Natsu Hyuga.
The game is presented as a mystery adventure in which Maomao must investigate two chains of strange phenomena and conspiracies that sow chaos in the rear palace, the pleasure district, and the capital. The plot revolves around the so-called Five Mysteries and Five Curses, and the enigma of a masked man who calls himself the younger imperial brother.
The project emphasizes observation, evidence gathering, and the preparation of medicinal compounds rather than direct combat. Development is handled by Gust, in collaboration with TOHO Games, under the Koei Tecmo label.
The physical version will be available for Switch 2 and PS5, while the Switch and Steam editions will be digital-only. The Switch 2 edition will be sold as a Game-Key Card, and there will be no save data transfer between the Switch and Switch 2 versions.
