Spirit Circle anime set for December 2026

The manga Spirit Circle, by Satoshi Mizukami, is getting an anime adaptation. The announcement came this Thursday from REMOW, and the most striking detail is the date: December 2026. There is barely a month left before the premiere, which is unusual for announcements of this kind.

The reveal came with a poster, a trailer, and the ending theme. The song is titled Koko ga Donna Sekai Demo ("No Matter What World This Is") and is performed by Anna Nagase. It was written specifically for the anime.

Mizukami is no stranger to anyone who follows seinen manga. He is the author of Hoshi no Samidare and Sengoku Youko, two works with anime adaptations that came and went without much noise. Spirit Circle arrives with a similar track record: a cult manga, short and well regarded, now looking for a second life on screen.

A team with experience

Direction falls to Tatsuo Satō, who is also in charge of the scripts. His name carries weight: he directed Martian Successor Nadesico, Stellvia, and Atom The Beginning. This is his latest directorial work.

Production is handled by NAGOMI and EOTA, with TWIN ENGINE behind it. Kentaro Mizuno serves as assistant director; he has worked on Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress, Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!, and Wistoria: Wand and Sword. Satoru Fujimoto is in charge of character designs.

Reincarnation and revenge

Fuuta Okeya is a middle school student who can see spirits. His life changes when Kouko Ishigami appears, a new student with a clear threat: "I will destroy your soul and break the cycle of reincarnation."

Kouko claims that the two share a fated bond going back to their previous lives. Fuuta sets out to find out why she wants to end him, and that journey takes him across time and space: from a distant past to a far-off future.

The manga ran in Young King magazine, published by Shōnengahōsha, between 2012 and 2016. It is only six volumes, a length that leaves room for a complete adaptation in a single season.

The announcement does not mention streaming platforms outside Japan.
