The Elusive Samurai anime returns to Eiketsu Taisen with a reissue of its collaboration
Physical cards for Hōjō Tokiyuki, Kojirō, Ayako, and Suwa Yorishige return to Sega's arcade from October 21 to November 18, along with a special shop offering rewards.
The collaboration between the card arcade Eiketsu Taisen: Kōgen Sōkoku no Hottan and the anime The Elusive Samurai (Nigejōzu no Wakagimi) is available again starting October 21. Sega has reissued the event in Japanese arcades, with the physical cards of the main characters as the big draw.
Anyone who plays a match during the campaign will receive a stamp. Collecting several unlocks character cards from the series and consumable items. The first stretch runs until November 4 and the second until the 18th of the same month.
The list of guest characters includes Hōjō Tokiyuki, Kojirō, Ayako, and Suwa Yorishige. All of them join the roster of Eiketsu Taisen, an action card game that mixes figures from the Three Kingdoms and Warring States periods, and which since version 3.5.0 also includes heroes of antiquity such as Hannibal and Alexander the Great.
Physical cards and point shop
To take home the characters from The Elusive Samurai, it's not enough to obtain them in the game: you have to print them as a physical card from the Card Print function on the satellite terminal. It's the same system the arcade uses with the rest of its catalog.
The reissue also comes with a temporary Koko point shop. Every time a player converts and prints a general using the exploration function, they earn points that can be exchanged for exclusive rewards.
Several characters will rotate through that shop over the weeks. On October 21, Roland, Myōrini, and Kaga no Chiyojo enter; on the 28th, Tokugawa Mitsukuni and Hosokawa Yūsai are added; and on November 4, it's the turn of Shōheikun and Jigoku Dayū.
A series with more than 5 million copies
The original manga by Yusei Matsui, author of Assassination Classroom, is published in Weekly Shōnen Jump. The story follows Hōjō Tokiyuki, the heir to the Hōjō clan who must flee after the fall of the Kamakura shogunate, and has more than five million copies in circulation.
The first season of the anime aired in July 2024 and the second has been on air since July of this year within Fuji TV's noitaminA block. The work won the 69th Shōgakukan Manga Award.
The collaboration with Eiketsu Taisen is not new: it had already been held before and now returns with the same stamp and rewards scheme. Players who missed it the first time have a second chance until November 18.
