Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV arrives tomorrow with six cars and the SUGO circuit

Update 1.72 also adds the 'Experience' mode by brand and a classic car finder.

Polyphony Digital will release tomorrow, October 15, 2026, the first part of the major Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7. Version 1.72 brings six new cars, a Japanese circuit never before seen in the game, and several features that change how we manage our collection.

What excites us most is the debut of SUGO International Racing Course, a technical 3,586-meter track located in Miyagi Prefecture. It has 13 corners, a 704.5-meter main straight, and an elevation change of nearly 70 meters. Its final turn, with a 10% gradient, is the kind that forces you to brake with your heart in your throat before launching onto the straight.

The track combines fast sections with very twisty zones: after the long straight come two right-handers, an S-curve, a hairpin, and a multi-apex complex. Perfect for strategy races and for testing each car's setup.

Six new cars for every taste

The update adds six vehicles that have not yet been detailed by name, but the official description gives us some juicy hints. There will be an affordable French car described as a masterpiece, an iconic Italian sports car from the 90s, a monster that dominated Japanese motorsport in 1987, and a completely revamped Gr.3.

That mix of classics and competition machines fits perfectly with the spirit of Spec IV: giving more weight to automotive history without neglecting the current grid. If you're the type who spends hours in the garage adjusting suspensions, the new Gr.3 will give you plenty to work with.

A classic car dealership and custom orders

Brand Central debuts the Classics section, where all models from the year 2000 or earlier appear. From there we can go straight to the Legend Cars and Used Cars dealerships.

The most interesting addition is the Vehicle Assistant, available for those who have already completed the main mode. We choose model, color, and condition, and the assistant takes care of locating the unit. Depending on our collector level, we can have up to four active orders at once.

This is a huge change for completing your collection: no more checking every day what appears at the dealerships. Now we place the order and wait to be notified.

Brand challenges and more control in the garage

Another feature making its debut is Experience, inside Brand Central. These are challenges designed to reflect each manufacturer's character. In this first part, they arrive for Xiaomi, Yangwang, Hyundai, and Polestar.

In the garage, the View Vehicle option lets us admire our car from any angle. We can change the background, turn the front wheels, switch the lights on or off, and set up the perfect shot for photo mode.

Additional menus 55, 56, and 57 already have confirmed themes: high-performance electric cars, modified GT-Rs, and Le Mans winners. The required collector levels range from 75 to 90.

New races to debut SUGO

The update also refreshes the event rotation. SUGO appears in the European Sunday Cup 400, the World Touring Car Championship 600, and the 800. Additionally, the Sunday Cup runs on the short Autopolis circuit and the Vision Gran Turismo Cup at Spa-Francorchamps.

Spec IV looks very promising: new content to compete, tools for collecting, and a circuit that feels different from what we already had. Tomorrow it's time to download the update and head out to test SUGO.
