Yen Press announces 10 new licenses across manga, novels, and audiobooks
The publisher revealed its April 2027 slate at MCM London Comic Con, with a Mamoru Hosoda audiobook as the big surprise.
Yen Press used its panel at MCM London Comic Con 2026 to announce ten new licenses arriving in April 2027. The publisher added two audiobooks, two light novels, and six manga to its catalog, and among the surprises is Scarlet, the first Mamoru Hosoda work to be adapted to audio.
The announcements were made a few hours ago during the industry panel. The batch mixes sequels, spin-offs, and completely new series, with a good range of genres: fantasy, psychological horror, romantic comedy, and several Boys Love and Girls Love titles.
Two audiobooks, starting with Mamoru Hosoda
Yen Audio, the publisher's audiobook imprint, will have two releases. The first is Scarlet, written by Mamoru Hosoda, the director of films like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and The Boy and the Beast. The story follows Princess Scarlet, who vows revenge after her uncle Claudius usurps the throne and executes the king. She fails in her attempt and wakes up in the land of the dead, where she meets Hijiri, a nurse from present-day Japan.
The other audiobook is 'Cause I'm Freedom!, by Taro Hitsuji with illustrations by Azumi Akitake. It follows Faye Leonheart, a 17-year-old fencing prodigy who returns from her training pilgrimage with a magical machine gun in hand. Her family disinherits her and she decides to dedicate herself to exploring ancient ruins full of technology called overgear.
Two light novels: Cecilia Sylvie returns
The Yen On imprint adds a short story collection for Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie, titled Extra Round!. Written by Hiroro Akizakura and illustrated by Dangmill, it includes an alternate route starring Oscar and another starring Gilbert, made for those who wanted more after the original series.
The second novel is And Thus, the Wizard Noi Garené Became a Bride 100 Years Later, by Eiko Mutsuhana. Noi Garené is the greatest mage in the Kingdom of Ethria and adopts Kaldia, an orphan boy who turns out to be the vessel of the Demon King. To save him, she sacrifices her life. A hundred years later she wakes up and finds a man identical to Kaldia asking for her hand in marriage.
Six new manga, with horror and romance
Among the manga announced is a premium edition of Secret: Homicide Edition, by Yoshiki Tonogai, the creator of Doubt. The premise is pure psychological thriller: six survivors of a bus accident discover there are three murderers among them, and they have one week to confess before the evidence reaches the police.
Two adaptations of novels published by Yen On are also coming. My Yandere Girlfriend Hiding in the Dungeon Kills Me Over and Over Again, by Eiji Nomura with an original story by Nikita Kitagawa, follows Kiska, banished to a dungeon for a crime he didn't commit and with the ability to save and restart his progress. The other is About a Place in the Kinki Region, by Tsukasa Usui with a story by Sesuji, an adaptation of the found footage novel about an occult magazine editor who disappears.
The other three licenses are My Childhood Friend Meows Under the Skirt, by Raku Nanahashi with a story by Hotori Handa, about a girl trying to reconnect with her childhood friend after a cat curse; Summer Boy Blues, by Miyako Tono, a Boys Love about two boys who reunite after a failed first encounter; and Is the Hot-Voiced Streamer Into Me?!, by APEKO, the story of a college student who meets his favorite ASMR BL roleplay streamer in person.
All releases are scheduled for April 2027, though Yen Press did not give specific dates for each title.
