The King's Proposal confirms Rie Takahashi and premieres in 2027
The actress will voice Saika Kuozaki, the most powerful mage in the world, in the anime adaptation of the light novel.
The anime adaptation of The King's Proposal has its lead. Rie Takahashi will play Saika Kuozaki, the most powerful mage in existence, Aniplex announced. The premiere is set for 2027, with no exact date yet.
Along with the cast announcement, a promotional image for the series was revealed. Aniplex also released a video with a comment from Takahashi about her involvement. No other cast members were announced for now.
The story of The King's Proposal has a premise that mixes fantasy, magic, and a secret identity. Saika is the only one capable of stopping the annihilation factors that try to destroy the world every 300 hours. When she is mortally wounded, she transfers her powers and her body to Mushiki Kuga, an ordinary high school student who crosses her path.
Inheriting those abilities doesn't mean Mushiki can control them. To protect the world, he will have to attend a magic academy while pretending to be Saika, keeping his true identity hidden. That double life puts magical training and secrecy at the center of the adventure.
A light novel with a manga and several years of history
The original light novel, written by Koushi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, has been published under Fujimi Shobo's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint since September 2021. It has eight volumes, and the ninth is scheduled for December 2026.
There is also a web manga adaptation illustrated by Nemo Kurio, published on Gangan Online, Square Enix's site, since February 2023. It has six volumes so far. Yen Press publishes the light novel in English.
The anime is based on a story with several years of publication and two formats already developed. The announcement doesn't specify the exact premiere date or more cast members.
