Reincarnated as a Sword unveils trailer and cast for Seedrun arc
The second season adds new voices and kicks off the new arc with its sixth episode
The official site for the second season of Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita) released a new trailer, a promotional image, and additional cast for the Seedrun arc this Thursday. The information arrives with the series already airing: it debuted on September 30 on the ABEMA service and has been airing on Tokyo MX and ABC TV since October 7.
The Seedrun arc begins with the sixth episode. The season has been on air for several weeks now, and this announcement comes just as the story prepares to change settings. Those following the weekly broadcast on HIDIVE, the platform streaming it outside Japan, will see the new arc in the coming weeks.
New voices for the Seedrun arc
The announcement does not detail the character names, but it does confirm that the cast grows with the arrival of this arc. The first season already featured Ai Kakuma as Fran, Shinichirō Miki as Master, and Yūma Uchida as Jean du Vix.
The series adapts the light novels by Yuu Tanaka, with illustrations by LLO. Tanaka began publishing the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narou site in October 2015, and Gentosha has been releasing it in print since July 2016. There is also a manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama, published since December 2016 in Denshi Birz.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the novels and the manga in English, and since August 2024 it has also released the audiobooks narrated by Josh Hurley.
A second season that already has its own rhythm
The first season premiered on Tokyo MX in October 2022, with early episodes on ABEMA from September of that year. The second season keeps the same schedule: ABEMA first, television a week later. The North American premiere of the new season took place on August 22 at Anime NYC.
The story follows a conscious sword that retains memories of its previous life but not its name. It saves Fran, a young beast girl with cat ears, from a life of slavery. She becomes its wielder and only wants to grow stronger; the sword wants to understand why it is there. The duo moves forward together without many clear answers.
September 30 also marked the launch of Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita My Dish, a spinoff manga by Itsuki Fujioka on Micro Magazine's Comic Ride service.
FZMZ performs the opening theme, "Dream of Butterfly," and Hanabie. handles the ending with "Baribari Buddy." The production team keeps Masaaki Onodera as director of photography for compositing.
The new promotional material is already available on the series' official site. The second season continues its weekly broadcast in Japan and on HIDIVE for the rest of the world.
