Pepero★Sparkles anime premieres in January 2027 with first visual
TV Tokyo confirms the main cast and introduces the three protagonists from planet Sparkle.
TV Tokyo has set a premiere date for Pepero★Sparkles: the anime will arrive in January 2027. The official website used the announcement to publish the series' first visual and reveal who voices its three protagonists.
The poster shows Mero, Kyun, and Ruu, a slightly mischievous trio who travel to Earth from planet Pepero★Sparkle, which shines on the other side of the galaxy. Their mission: to investigate everything they find iketeru, that is, what's really cool.
First visual of Pepero★Sparkles with Mero, Kyun, and Ruu.A cast with familiar anime faces
Mero, serious but with a scatterbrained side, will be voiced by Yūki Sakakihara. Kyun, a fan of fashion and cosmetics, is played by Mai Kanno. And Ruu, pure energy, is voiced by Fairouz Ai, whom you may have heard in roles like Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean or Power in Chainsaw Man.
Fairouz Ai voices Ruu in Pepero★Sparkles.Additionally, Yōhei Azakami handles the narration that opens each episode. According to him, he tried to make that introduction hook the viewer from the very first second, without losing the rhythm or energy of the whole.
An anime with a double reading
The actresses agree that the series has a layer aimed at younger viewers and another with nods that only adult audiences will catch. Kanno, for example, confesses she accepted the role partly because of her weakness for kawaii and for the illustrations by Yurie Sekiya, and teases that the anime hides "unique mechanisms that only adults will understand."
Fairouz Ai, for her part, warns that Ruu isn't limited to a sweet voice: from time to time she pulls out a much deeper tone, and that contrast is part of the character's charm.
The anime premieres in January 2027, although TV Tokyo has yet to confirm the exact day and broadcast time.
