MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES gets live-action film on March 19, 2027

Hajime Komoto's manga MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES is heading to the big screen. The live-action film will open in Japan on March 19, 2027, according to the official announcement, which also revealed a first "Super Teaser Visual" with a silhouetted figure.

Warner Bros. is producing, with CREDEUS, the company behind Kingdom and Golden Kamuy, at the helm. The name of the actor playing Mash will be revealed on November 5, so there won't be long to wait.

For anyone unfamiliar with the story: Mash Burnedead is born without magic in a world of wizards and witches. His plan to survive is to train his body until it becomes his only weapon. When his secret is discovered, he is forced to enroll in a magic school with an impossible goal: to become a Divine Visionary using only his muscles.

The original work was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump between 2020 and 2023, and has over 12 million copies in circulation worldwide. A figure that explains why the jump to the big screen hasn't taken long.

The anime is still going

The anime adaptation aired its first season in 2023 and its second in 2024. Its opening, "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" by Creepy Nuts, became a global phenomenon. The third season is scheduled for January 2027, just two months before the film arrives.

So Mash fans will have a packed start to the year: first the new batch of episodes and, in March, the live-action. The challenge is translating the series' very physical humor to live action, with Mash resolving magical duels through push-ups and pure muscle blows.
