DIME launches 9 T-shirts of The Ultraman, the manga by Uchiyama Mamoru

The magazine celebrates its 40th anniversary and Ultraman's 60th with a collection that brings back panels and illustrations from the Shogakukan classic.

DIME has a new collaboration and this time it looks to manga. The Japanese magazine, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, launches nine T-shirts with art from The Ultraman, the work by Uchiyama Mamoru originally published in Shogakukan's children's magazines. Each one costs 5,000 yen with tax included.

The collection is part of the eighth installment of the special projects for the publication's anniversary. In this case, the hook is double: DIME's 40 years and the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman franchise, born in 1966 with the Tsuburaya Productions series.

The person in charge of choosing the images was Gaigan Yamazaki, a writer specializing in entertainment and known in the scene as a tokusatsu fan. Yamazaki selected scenes and illustrations from Uchiyama's original manuscripts. The result is nine designs that cover different moments and characters from the manga.

There is a T-shirt with the first Ultraman in full color, another with Ultraman Taro, one dedicated to Melos —the original warrior created by Uchiyama— and one more with the Ultra Brothers gathered around Zoffy. There are also designs that bring back action sequences: the brothers' first joint battle against eleven kaiju, Andro Melos's laser, or the new Ultraman's Ultra Spin Kick.

Not everything is manga in this collaboration. DIME also produced two bags with Manhattan Portage, the American urban messenger brand. One is a water-resistant vegan leather messenger bag for 19,800 yen; the other, a jogger bag for 9,900 yen with a new illustration of Ultraseven and Ultraman Zero. Both will ship in March 2027.

The T-shirts are sold through Shogakukan's official store, Shogakukan Hyakka. DIME itself clarifies that the designs are still under supervision and could change before final production.

The announcement comes in the middle of the 60th anniversary celebration of Ultraman. The most recent issue of DIME dedicates around forty pages to the franchise, with collaboration from Tsuburaya Productions and testimonials from figures like Hideo Kojima or Hiroshi Nagano. The magazine also includes a large-format clear file as an extra.

The T-shirt collection is already available. The announcement insists that they are limited items tied to the anniversary.
