The end of 'Hibike! Euphonium' wins 3 awards in Korea
The second part of 'Last Movement' took the Audience Award, the Music Award, and the Society President's Award at BIAF2026.
The finale of Hibike! Euphonium keeps racking up recognition. The second part of Last Movement won three awards at the 28th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2026), held in South Korea from October 23 to 27.
The announcement came on October 27 from the anime's official account (@anime_eupho). The awards are the Feature Film Audience Award, the COCOMICS Music Award, and the Korean Society of Cartoon and Animation Studies (KOSCAS) President's Award.
The post surpassed 4,800 likes in less than a day. No surprise: we're talking about a series that has spent eleven years telling us about the life of the Kitauji High School concert band.
A finale awarded beyond Japan
The most striking one is the Audience Award. It isn't decided by a jury, but by the people who attended the screenings. That a story about a Japanese school band connects with Korean audiences says a lot about how universal the journey of Kumiko and her friends is.
The COCOMICS Music Award also fits like a glove. The musical performance scenes are the heart of the franchise, and this recognition puts the focus right there: on the sound that builds the emotion of each arc.
The film hit Japanese theaters on September 11, 2026, months after the first part premiered on April 24. Both make up the definitive ending of the story, distributed by Shochiku and under the general direction of Tatsuya Ishihara.
Eleven years of music and growth
The Hibike! Euphonium anime started in 2015. The third TV season wrapped up in 2024, and the team decided to finish the story with these two films. It isn't just any epilogue: it's a farewell to characters who have grown alongside their audience for over a decade.
The finale receiving this international validation confirms that the bet on youth drama and music still works. No isekai, no fantasy: just teenagers, instruments, and a whole lot of teamwork.
BIAF2026 took place in the city of Bucheon and brought together productions from around the world. Among them, the conclusion of one of the most beloved series in modern anime took three trophies home.
