Dragon Ball Super remake drops hint at Vegeta's Ultra Ego

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is still airing, and every episode brings changes from the original anime. The latest one touches Vegeta and his Super Saiyan 2 transformation, which now sports a purple aura as part of this remake's visual upgrades.

The detail is not minor for those who read the manga. That color connects to Ultra Ego, Vegeta's most powerful form, which debuts in the Granolah the Survivor arc. The anime has not adapted that story yet, but the aura change looks like a hint of what's coming.

The violet aura completely surrounds the character in his Ultra Ego form, just as it now does with his Super Saiyan 2 in the remake. It's no coincidence: Toei Animation and Bird Studio have already revealed their intention to adapt the manga arcs still pending.

The road to Ultra Ego

First comes Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, which adapts the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. After that would come the Granolah the Survivor arc, where Vegeta unlocks Ultra Ego.

That form puts him on par with Goku's Ultra Instinct, though through a different path. Vegeta cannot calm his mind like his rival, so he channels his fury and aggression to unleash that divine power. The purple aura of the remake reinforces that visual separation between the two.

With the change to Super Saiyan 2, the anime brings the animated debut of Ultra Ego one step closer. Still no date, but with a clear direction.

What's left to confirm

Toei Animation and Bird Studio have not given a release window for The Galactic Patrol. That leaves up in the air when we'll see Vegeta with Ultra Ego on screen, though the intention to adapt the manga-exclusive arcs is already on the table.

Meanwhile, the remake keeps planting seeds. The purple aura is a small change, but for manga fans it means much more than an aesthetic upgrade.
