Though I Am an Inept Villainess Confirms Second Cours for January 2027 and Adds New Voices to the Cast
The 'The First Royal Outing' arc will expand the court with three new characters and a promotional image
Image from the original Anitsu edition. The imperial court doesn't stay still even when everything seems to be in order. Though I Am an Inept Villainess has already set a date for its next big move and, like someone switching fans in the middle of a ceremony, has also introduced new additions to its cast. The series will continue with its second cours in January 2027, news that makes it clear the story of Kou Reirin still has plenty of rope left.
The new batch of episodes will adapt the "The First Royal Outing"arc, which will expand the series' human map with several newly announced characters. Along with that, a new promotional image for this phase of the anime has also been revealed. All very palatial, very elegant, and, underneath it all, with that fine chaos that's so appealing in this type of story.
New Seiyuu to Strengthen the Cast
The new stage of the anime will arrive with three notable additions. They're well-known names and add weight to a series that continues building its world calmly, but without resting on its laurels.
- Yūichi Nakamura will play Keikou, Reirin's older brother.
- Shunichi Toki will voice Keishou, Reirin's second older brother.
- Chiaki Kobayashi will play Unran, a young village leader from the south.
It's an interesting trio of reinforcements. Not only because of the actors' prestige, but because these characters can open up new dynamics within a work that thrives on the contrast between appearances, hierarchies, and personal strategies. In this story, no one enters just because. There's always a piece to move on the board.
What the New Arc Is About
The new stage begins in early autumn, when the southern territory of the Shu clan prepares to host the Harvest Festival, a ritual in which the crown prince and the maidens pray for an abundant harvest. Keigetsu continues with the preparations despite not having a consort as guardian, while Reirin supports her efforts and eagerly awaits her first outing as a member of the royal family.
Trouble arrives shortly after both of them reach the ceremony. An accident interrupts the ritual and Keigetsu, thrown off balance, sees her spell spiral out of control and sends them back into each other's bodies. In the ensuing chaos, Reirin is kidnapped. Her brothers Kou Keikou and Kou Keishou enter the scene while a search is underway for an unidentified figure laying a trap for Keigetsu.
Toho has not yet confirmed an exact premiere date for the second cours, beyond the January 2027 window. We'll have to keep an eye on the next move. Because in this palace, no one lets their guard down.
