The anime adaptation of the light novels The Person in a Villainess (Akuyaku Reijo no Naka no Hito), written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki, will air on Japanese television in 2027. The project's official site released a first trailer and a key visual to confirm the announcement.
Studio ROLL2 is handling the animation. Yoshihisa Iida directs the project, Hiroyuki Yoshino oversees the scripts, and Reiko Nagasawa is in charge of character design. The soundtrack is composed by Shuji Katayama, with Infinite as the production company.
The main cast is led by Miyuki Sawashiro as Remilia Rosa Graupner and Rie Takahashi as Emi. The franchise also confirmed its presence at AnimeJapan 2026, in late March, to reveal new updates.
Makiburo began publishing the story on a novel portal in May 2020. Ichijinsha released the print volumes starting in February 2021, and Shiraume's manga adaptation concluded with its sixth volume. As of March 2026, the franchise has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation.
