Silver Link Posts Third Straight Year of Losses Despite 32.1% Revenue Growth
The studio behind WataMote and Kokoro Connect reported an operating loss of 271 million yen in the fiscal year ended March 2026.
Image from the original Anitsu edition. Silver Link reported an operating loss of 271 million yen, roughly 1.7 million dollars, in the fiscal year ended March 2026. While the figure did not widen significantly compared to the previous year, it marks the third consecutive year in which the studio has failed to turn a profit.
The result contrasts with a 32.1% year-on-year increase in revenue, growth that was not enough to offset operating costs. Automaton Media notes that the trend of "rising revenue and shrinking margins" is spreading across the Japanese anime industry, which is affected by prolonged production schedules and a shortage of skilled workers.
Founded in 2007 and under the umbrella of Asahi Broadcasting Group, Silver Link has produced titles such as WataMote, Kokoro Connect, Strike the Blood, and the more recent Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!.
The case brings to mind Studio KAI, the studio behind the second and third seasons of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, which announced insolvency with a deficit of 3.54 million dollars.
