New The Ghost in the Shell Anime by Science SARU Reveals Second Trailer and Main Staff
Mokochan debuts as director, EnJoe Toh writes the scripts, and Shuhei Handa designs the characters for the series slated for 2026
Image from Anitsu's original article. The official website for The Ghost in the Shell released the second trailer for the new television anime produced by Science SARU, along with a new promotional image. The project, originally announced in May 2024, retains the title of Masamune Shirow's manga and is slated to premiere in 2026.
The material revealed the main creative team. Mokochan, known for their work on DAN DA DAN and SCOTT PILGRIM TAKES OFF, makes their directorial debut. Science fiction writer EnJoe Toh handles the scripts, while Shuhei Handa takes on character design and chief animation direction.
The second promotional visual, illustrated by Handa, shows protagonist Motoko Kusanagi alongside the AI-equipped combat tank Fuchikoma, evoking the cover sketch from the original manga. The trailer features key animation and storyboards from the production.
Shirow Masamune, the creator of the work, shared a message in which he described this adaptation as the fourth anime version, or the tenth if all the spin-off films and series are counted. The author expressed his hope that the result will be a rewarding visual experience for fans.
