Prime 1 Studio launches a life-size Marin Kitagawa figure for $8,000
The piece measures 164 centimeters, includes the protagonist's school uniform, and allows her to be changed into different clothes.
Prime 1 Studio announced on October 23 the production of a life-size figure of Marin Kitagawa, the protagonist of My Dress-Up Darling. Pre-orders opened the following day, October 24, priced at 7,999 US dollars with shipping expected between March and June 2027.
The Japanese company, known for its large-format statues based on anime, video game, and film franchises, did not hold back with this piece. In its statement it said that "only a life-size figure can reach this level of precision," and added that the sculpture and paintwork are designed "for all My Dress-Up Darling fans to enjoy."
A Marin you can dress
The figure measures 164 centimeters, which is about 5 feet 5 inches. The most striking detail is that it includes a custom-made replica of Marin's school uniform: shirt, tie, and skirt. It also comes with a black swimsuit that can be used if the uniform is removed.
The piece also has two interchangeable left arms. One lets you pose her with an open, extended hand; the other, with the arm bent at the elbow and the classic peace sign. Along with the arms, black and silver bracelets are included.
Prime 1 Studio's website warns that all current images are prototypes and that the final product may change.
A leap in scale for the franchise
My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) began as a manga by Shinichi Fukuda in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine. The anime adaptation, produced by CloverWorks, premiered in January 2022 and made Marin one of the most popular characters of recent years, both for her charisma and for the cosplay design work that runs through the story.
The price, close to $8,000, places it in the luxury collectibles segment, far from the reach of most fans who just want a figure for the shelf. The company has not detailed how many units will be produced or whether the figure will reach distributors outside Japan.
