A Gin and Vodka cosplay at Universal Studios Japan ends with park security stepping in

The Black Organization duo tried to recreate the scene from the first episode of Detective Conan, and park staff reacted very differently to each of them.

Two Detective Conan fans wore their Gin and Vodka cosplays to Universal Studios Japan and ended up in a scene that could have come straight out of Gosho Aoyama's manga: the one dressed as Vodka was let through without issue, while the one dressed as Gin was stopped at the entrance for a thorough check.

Japanese user TADAO shared the outing with her friend on social media. The two decided to dress up as the two high-ranking members of the Black Organization to recreate the image of the duo that appears in the first episode of the series.

What they didn't expect was for park security to treat them so differently. According to TADAO, the one dressed as Vodka got in without any trouble. Her friend, dressed as Gin, was stopped for a deeper inspection. TADAO herself joked that her superior character had been flagged as a truly suspicious individual.

With their distinctive black outfits, Gin's long silver hair, and Vodka's imposing build, the two quickly drew attention among the crowd of tourists. With their distinctive black outfits, Gin's long silver hair, and Vodka's imposing build, the two quickly drew attention among the crowd of tourists.

The Black Organization, held at the gate

The contrast quickly went viral among Japanese internet users. One member of the Black Organization could walk freely through the park while the leader ran into trouble right at the entrance check. The irony was too good to pass up.

Some commenters imitated Detective Conan characters to mock the duo. One joked that even the Black Organization was taking the chance to visit the amusement park, and warned other visitors to be careful getting on the roller coasters if the two were nearby.

TADAO responded to the teasing by clarifying that neither of them was a criminal and that they had behaved with total seriousness throughout the visit. It didn't do much good: internet users kept drawing parallels with the villainous organization's secret activities.

In the manga, Gin and Vodka usually appear with a cold and dangerous attitude. Seeing them cheerfully enjoying a day at the amusement park is the exact opposite of what anyone would expect from them.

Another user questioned whether the duo had brought any suspicious drugs into the park, a detail reminiscent of APTX 4869, the poison developed by the Black Organization.Another user questioned whether the duo had brought any suspicious drugs into the park, a detail reminiscent of APTX 4869, the poison developed by the Black Organization.

Tourists who mistook them for official staff

The trip ended without incident. According to TADAO, many tourists later commented that they had seen Gin and Vodka at Universal Studios Japan that day, and some initially thought they were official park performers or characters.

When they found out they were simply two fans in costume, they were even more delighted. The meticulousness of the costumes, the appearance, and the way they embodied their characters turned the duo into one of the most unexpected moments of the visit.

Detective Conan has been published since 1994, and its anime adaptation began in 1996. The story follows Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective poisoned by the Black Organization and turned into a child who takes on the identity of Conan Edogawa. Gin and Vodka appear from the earliest chapters and are central pieces of the main plot.
