Drama Queen ends in 4 chapters
Kuraku Ichikawa announces the end of his manga published in Shonen Jump+ since December 2024
Drama Queen will end in four chapters. Kuraku Ichikawa announced it on Monday on his X account (formerly Twitter). The manga, published in Shonen Jump+ since December 2024, closes a story that began with a premise as simple as it is uncomfortable: hatred as a driving force.
The synopsis used by MANGA Plus, the platform that publishes it in English, makes it clear from the first line: "Hatred brings pain to the world." After saving Earth, some aliens settle in Japan to live with humans. Nomamoto, a factory worker with an abusive alien boss, one day meets Kitami, who tells her that his family was killed by aliens. The friendship between the two forms quickly, but Kitami ends up doing the unthinkable.
Ichikawa debuted with this series and in less than two years brings it to its conclusion. Shueisha published the seventh compiled volume on September 4. It's not a long run nor one stretched out by filler: the announcement comes with the story already headed toward its close.
The premise of Drama Queen recalls other works that use alien invasion as a mirror of social tensions, but here the violence doesn't stay in the subtext. The official synopsis points to a personal revenge that becomes something bigger, and the title plays with that ambiguity between drama and provocation.
The manga can be read in English through MANGA Plus, Shueisha's platform. The announcement doesn't specify when the last chapter will come out, but with only four installments ahead, the end is just around the corner.
