One Piece Producers at Netflix Talk About Its Future Without Confirming a 10-Season Plan
The 12-season figure was a hope expressed in 2023, not an official commitment from the platform
Image from Anitsu's original edition. With the second season already released and the third in production, the people behind the live-action adaptation of One Piece on Netflix once again spoke about how long the series could run. Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements and showrunner Joe Tracz qualified the figures circulating on social media, making it clear that there is no set plan for ten or twelve seasons.
The origin of the stir is an interview from September 2023, shortly after the first installment premiered. At the time, producer Marty Adelstein said they had "hopes for 12 seasons" given the amount of source material in the manga. Clements added that even with six seasons they would barely cover half of the chapters published up to that point.
Asked by The Hollywood Reporter, Tracz responded without confirming that goal: "We all feel lucky to be working on a series we care about, so I think we want to tell all the stories we love." The showrunner joked about training his children to inherit the project and admitted that its continuation depends on audience support.
The third season, which will adapt the Alabasta arc, is already filming in Cape Town. Netflix has not officially announced a fourth installment or a total number of seasons.
