Vickeblanka explains the Dragon Ball Super: Birusu ending: sadness as the engine of strength
The singer reveals in an interview the concept behind 'Kanpeki no Peki' and the character that interests him most in the series.
Musician Vickeblanka has talked about Kanpeki no Peki, the ending theme of Dragon Ball Super: Birusu. In an interview with Animate Times, the artist explains that he wanted to reflect the sadness and frustration hidden behind the characters' strength.
The song went on sale on October 14, 2026 in two formats: a CD and Blu-ray edition for 8,470 yen and a CD-only edition for 1,375 yen.
A song about what lies behind strength
Vickeblanka grew up reading and watching Dragon Ball. For him, the appeal of the series isn't just that the characters are strong, fast, or imposing. What really interests him is the reason they want to be: the sadness, rage, and humiliation hidden beneath that need to not lose.
That's the idea he tried to capture in the ending. In his own words, he wanted to express "from all directions" the feelings that drive the fighters to become more and more powerful.
"The lyric 'Do you think sadness can defeat me? I eat it daily, morning, noon, and night' sums it all up. Nobody pushes themselves blindly. When you understand that your vitality is born from sadness and rage, that's when true strength appears."
The musician also talked about the ending's animation. He was struck by the image of Shenlong, which stays on screen throughout the sequence instead of alternating with other scenes to the rhythm of the music. That approach reminded him of the atmosphere of Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Power!, the first ending of the original series, and felt especially nostalgic to him.
Vegeta, the character that interests him most
Asked which character he pays the most attention to in this new series, Vickeblanka doesn't hesitate: Vegeta. He believes the prince of the Saiyans has rarely been portrayed as well as in Dragon Ball Super: Birusu. He highlights his growth as a person, the reasons that led him to become stronger, and his capricious personality.
Besides Vegeta, he would like to see Hit fighting seriously and confesses he also has a soft spot for Number 18, whom he's looking forward to seeing.
The series premiere
Dragon Ball Super: Birusu has been airing since October 11, 2026 on Fuji TV and other networks, every Sunday at 23:15. The series is an improved version of Dragon Ball Super with new scenes, redrawn animation, and a reconstruction of the story.
The plot begins a few years after the battle against Majin Buu. Earth has regained peace when the God of Destruction Birusu awakens from a long slumber. Upon learning that a Saiyan defeated Freeza, he appears before Goku and pushes the planet to the brink of destruction.
The cast keeps Masako Nozawa as Goku, Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta, and Koichi Yamadera as Birusu. Tadayoshi Yamamuro returns as animation director, with music by Norihito Sumitomo and production by Toei Animation.
The opening is handled by Megatera Zero with Onogami. Vickeblanka's ending, Kanpeki no Peki, went on sale on October 14 in the two formats mentioned.
