Manga Creator Majuro Kaname, Author of Can You Just Die, My Darling?, Passes Away

Kodansha's magazine editorial department announced this Tuesday that manga creator Majuro Kaname passed away in February. At the time of his death, Kaname was working on the draft of chapter 14 of Doku o Kurawaba Sakura Made, his current project with illustrator Takahiro Ōbata. The family held a private funeral.

The editorial team has preserved the story of Doku o Kurawaba Sakura Made up to chapter 13. To honor the wishes of the family and the illustrator, the serialization will conclude at that point, and a second and final collected volume including the final chapter will be published.

His Career

Kaname and Ōbata launched Doku o Kurawaba Sakura Made on Kodansha's Getsu Maga Kichi website in October 2025. His most recognized work was Can You Just Die, My Darling?, created with art by Sōsō Sakakibara and published by Kodansha in 10 volumes. The series ended in January 2021.
