Kijin Gentosho: The Long-Awaited "Demon Hunter" Adaptation Arrives This March

The phenomenon of Japanese literature continues to expand in the world of anime, and "Kijin Gentosho" (also known as Sword of the Demon Hunter) is the next big bet on the horizon. After years of success in its literary and manga versions, the story created by writer Nakanishi will receive its long-awaited anime adaptation, premiering on March 31 in Japan. The series will air on major national networks such as Tokyo MX, BS11, and BS Fuji, and promises to captivate fans of Japanese culture with its blend of mystery, action, and fantasy.

On this occasion, the team behind the anime has released a trailer that hints at the series' dark and immersive atmosphere, while also offering a preview of its opening theme song. The song "Sen-ya Ichi-ya feat. Izumi Nakasone (HY)" by Japanese hip-hop group Hilcrhyme accompanies the first images of the series, adding an extra layer of emotion and dynamism.

A Promising Anime With a Talented Creative Team

Director Kazuya Aiura, known for his work on Assassins Pride and Horimiya, is in charge of directing this ambitious project, with Yokohama Animation Lab at the helm. The scriptwriting is handled by the talented Deko Akao, who has left her mark on popular titles such as Noragami and Tales of Wedding Rings. Additionally, character design is the responsibility of Taro Ikegami, who has worked on Lapis Re:LIGHTs and Steins;Gate, ensuring an attractive and well-crafted visual style. The Origin of "Kijin Gentosho" and Its Expansion

The story of Kijin Gentosho has its roots on the web, where author Nakanishi began publishing the work in January 2013 through the Arcadia website. After moving to the self-publishing platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, the project quickly gained popularity, and in October 2016 it was completed in web format. Publisher Futabasha handled its physical publication, with illustrations by Tamaki, and concluded with a total of 14 volumes.

Meanwhile, the manga adaptation, which began serialization in September 2021 in Monthly Action magazine under the art of YÅ« Satomi, has reached 7 volumes so far. In Spain, the manga was licensed by Panini Cómics in September 2022, under the title Kijin Gentôshô: Cazador de Demonios, and the first 6 volumes are already available in Spanish. The seventh volume is scheduled for release on March 27, and Kaiji Manga handles its publication in Catalan.

The Story: A Reunion After More Than 170 Years

The plot of Kijin Gentosho introduces us to Miyaka, an ordinary young woman whose family is dedicated to religious life at a Shinto shrine. Despite pressure from her mother, who wants Miyaka to follow tradition and become an itsukihime (a priestess of special rank), the young woman is not convinced of her destiny. However, her life will take an unexpected turn when a strange boy appears at the shrine with a sword and a mission involving more than 170 years of history. After discovering that Miyaka is the next itsukihime, the boy bursts into tears, setting off a series of supernatural events that will completely change her fate and that of her family.

The blend of Japanese mythology, demonic action, and supernatural elements, along with intense narrative twists, make Kijin Gentosho a work that will captivate not only anime lovers but also those who enjoy deep, well-developed plots within Japanese culture.
