Image from Anitsu's original edition. The anime adaptation of The Kept Man of the Princess Knight (Himekishi-sama no Himo), the light novel series by Toru Shirogane, will premiere in January 2027. Kadokawa confirmed this with a promotional teaser, a key visual, and the first designs of the protagonists.
The main cast already has names: Junichi Suwabe plays Matthew, and Mikako Komatsu voices Arwin, the Crimson Princess Knight. In the story, Arwin seeks a legendary treasure to rebuild her fallen kingdom, while Matthew carries a reputation as weak and despised in Dungeon City, though no one knows his true potential.
On the production side, Chihiro Kumano directs at BLADE, Hisao Ishii designs the characters based on Saki Mashima's originals, and Deko Akao handles series composition. Music is by Taku Iwasaki.
The franchise has over 200,000 copies in circulation and won the grand prize at the 28th Dengeki Novel Awards. The seventh volume of the novel was released on July 10 in Japan, and Keyyang's manga already has three collected volumes.
