It's official: Kagurabachi will get a television anime adaptation, and its premiere is set for April 2027. The announcement comes with a teaser visual, a teaser video, and the first names on the team.

Staff and cast

Studio Cypic is handling production. Direction falls to Tetsuya Takeuchi, known for his work as action animation director on Sword Art Online II and for his battle storyboards in Heavenly Delusion. Keigo Sasaki is in charge of character designs, with previous work on Blue Exorcist and The Seven Deadly Sins. Shochiku and CyberAgent lead the production committee.

The protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, will be voiced by Taihi Kimura, winner of the Best New Actor award at the 20th Seiyu Awards in 2025.

World tour with a preview of the first episode

The Kagurabachi World Tour will kick off in summer 2026 with exclusive screenings of the first 20 minutes of episode 1 at anime events around the world. The tour will culminate in Japan in spring 2027 with the first full screening of the complete episode, ahead of the official premiere.

The manga that started it all

The work by Takeru Hokazono has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since September 2023. With the release of volume 11 in Japan on May 1, the series will surpass 4 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.

The story follows Chihiro, a young man who trains as a swordsmith under the tutelage of his father Kunishige. His life is shattered when the sorcerer organization Hishaku attacks and steals the six Enchanted Blades. Chihiro takes Enten, the seventh blade his father left behind, and sets out on a path of revenge.
