Gifted Gets Anime in 2027: Mystery Manga Makes the Leap to Animation

Kodansha announced a TV anime adaptation of the manga Gifted, slated to premiere in 2027. The announcement came with a celebratory illustration shared by Rima Amamiya, the artist of the series.

The story follows Natsuki Amakusa, a young genius detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and Yūya Shiki, a high school student with the mysterious ability to see "marks" on murderers. After solving a complex case together, Natsuki recruits him and the two become partners investigating crimes while searching for the origin of Yūya's hidden power.

The manga, written by Shin Kibayashi and illustrated by Rima Amamiya, has been serialized in Nakayoshi magazine since December 2021. Kodansha published volume 11 on January 13 and had volume 12 scheduled for release on June 12.

Before the anime, the series already inspired a live-action adaptation: the first season aired on Tokai TV and Fuji TV from August to September 2023, and the second on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW on Demand from October to December of the same year.
