GATE 2: Tides of Conflict Confirms 2027 Premiere and Will Choose Its Ending in a VOCALOID Contest
The new anime unveiled a key visual and announced a collaboration with VOCALOID Collection Summer 2026
Image from Anitsu's original edition. GATE 2: Tides of Conflict unveiled a new key visual and confirmed that it will premiere on television in 2027. The announcement came with an unusual proposal: the anime's ending will come from a VOCALOID music contest.
An Ending Chosen by the Community
The anime will collaborate with VOCALOID Collection Summer 2026, an event open to participants from around the world. The winning song will be the one used as the ending for GATE 2: Tides of Conflict.
The competing songs will use synthesized voices, as is typical in the Vocaloid world. However, the winning piece will have a new version with a human vocalist chosen through another collaboration, this time with Utaite Collection in fall 2026.
Oshi and Fan Participation
The project is supported by Oshi, a platform that aims to connect creators, licenses, and fans in a single ecosystem. The proposal includes behind-the-scenes content and dynamics so that the community can actively contribute to the production. The platform is currently in soft launch.
The anime will also have a presence at Anime Expo with an Oshi booth where production materials will be shown.

The Story
The plot continues after the reopening of the mysterious GATE. The Japan Self-Defense Forces continue with diplomatic and exploration missions in the Special Region, a parallel world. When an American journalist is kidnapped in the conflict-ridden seas of that region, an elite Japanese maritime unit embarks on a high-risk rescue.
