Final Fantasy VII Revelation announced for spring 2027 with simultaneous release on all platforms
Square Enix presented the final installment of the remake trilogy during Summer Game Fest, with Vincent and Cid as playable characters
Image from the original Anitsu edition. Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remakeseries, during Summer Game Fest Live held on June 5, 2026. The game will arrive in spring 2027 simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox PC.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi summed up the title's approach with the word "resolve," which defines the tone of the final stretch: Cloud and his companions confront their convictions as they head toward the ultimate battle against Sephiroth. Producer Yoshinori Kitase and creative director Tetsuya Nomura also shared messages about the conclusion of a story that began in 1997.
The reveal trailer showed a borderless explorable world aboard the Highwind airship, with parachute descents to any point on the map. Among the playable novelties are Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind as controllable characters, as well as the FITS system, which allows equipping outfits with new movesets inspired by classic jobs from the franchise.
The hybrid combat system returns with the option to switch between real-time action and tactical mode. Those with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will unlock special bonuses in the new installment.
