Cygames Apologizes Over AI Studio Controversy and Clarifies Its Policy
The company states it does not use AI-generated art in its current products and will not implement it without notice
Image from the original Anitsu edition. Cygames has issued an apology following the wave of criticism that came after the announcement of its subsidiary Cygames AI Studio. In a statement, the company acknowledged that its initial announcement was overly simplified and did not address the social debates surrounding generative AI.
The company stated that the art in all of its current games and products is created based on the technical knowledge and manual work of its staff. It also assured that it does not use art produced by generative AI in its products and promised not to implement it without prior notice.
Cygames AI Studio was introduced as a hub for developing AI technology for safe and efficient use, with the goal of becoming a leading organization in AI research and implementation within the entertainment industry. Despite the apology, part of the community has shown skepticism because the statement does not rule out the future use of generative AI in games.
