Credit Saison launches manga script contest with 2 million yen and guaranteed publication
The 'Manga Saison Gensaku Taishō' contest accepts works of any genre and is open to professionals and amateurs until January 31.
Credit Saison announced on October 26 the launch of 「Manga Saison Gensaku Taishō」, a manga script contest that will award 2 million yen to the winner and guarantee manga adaptations of the winning works. The call, held in collaboration with the company indent, will remain open until January 31, 2027.
The contest aims to create original intellectual property through the discovery of new stories. Selected works will be published on Manga Saison, the company's official e-book service.
This is not Credit Saison's first foray into entertainment. The company already worked with IP holders through themed credit cards, member benefits, e-commerce, and events. In August 2026 it went a step further by creating 「Oshikatsu-ka」, a cross-departmental division dedicated to supporting creators and franchises.
What the contest is looking for
The call accepts works of all genres and does not distinguish between professionals and amateurs. The organization asks participants to set aside commercial formulas and submit stories they themselves find interesting, from classic plots with their own approach to completely new worlds.
One important detail: drawn manga are not accepted. The contest seeks original scripts in novel format, that is, the story and characters on which the manga will later be built. The selection criteria prioritize appealing characters and narratives that leave readers wanting more.
Submissions are sent through Nola, the creation platform for writers operated by indent.
Prizes and selection process
The awards include three categories:
- Grand Prize: 1 work, 2 million yen and guaranteed manga adaptation.
- Excellence Award: up to 2 works, 500,000 yen each and guaranteed manga adaptation.
- Readers' Award: 3 works, 100,000 yen each.
The Readers' Award is decided by popular vote among candidates selected by the organization, excluding the Grand Prize and Excellence Award winners. Those who become candidates will also receive coupons for STOREE SAISON, the group's online store.
Evaluation is handled by Credit Saison and indent, and results will be announced in June 2027. The company also plans to go beyond manga: according to its representatives, they will consider developing cards, merchandise, events, and other products related to the winning works as they grow.
The core idea of the project is to create a model where creators and fans collaborate in developing stories. It's not just about reading, but about owning, collecting, participating, and supporting.
