Cure Answer's Future Form hides a heart made with her pigtails
The team behind "Precure: The Detectives Movie" reveals design secrets and confirms it's already the highest-grossing standalone film in the franchise.
The new Precure movie keeps delivering. At an event with the team held this October 29 in Tokyo, director Ueda Hanako revealed a lovely detail about Cure Answer's design: her Future Form forms a giant heart when viewed from behind.
The director explained that Cure Answer's two pigtails draw the silhouette of a heart seen from behind. The space between them was designed on purpose so that the heart would stand out clearly. "I wanted the heart to look as big as possible from behind, so we adjusted the design to achieve that," Ueda said.
The film, Precure: The Detectives Movie — The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of the Two, is still in theaters in Japan. As of October 28, it had grossed 1,319,850,000 yen and drawn 1,031,173 viewers. With those numbers, it's already the highest-grossing standalone film in the history of the Precure franchise.
Five proposals for the teaser visual
During the event, Ueda also talked about the film's teaser visual. She said she submitted five proposals and the chosen one was the fifth, the most unexpected. "They told me it might be too much, but since I'm the director, I insisted," she joked.
Toei Animation producer Murakami Takashi was happy with the result: "We wanted to be number one at least once, but we didn't expect such wonderful news. We're very happy." Next to him, ABC Animation producer Matsuda Saeko also thanked the audience for their support.
Murakami also highlighted the nods hidden in the film. He mentioned Cure Mystic's Power Up Form, which gets bigger when everyone raises their wands, and Matsuda talked about Cure Écrou's giant ribbon: "It's so cute you want to squeeze it. At that size, it even blocks UV rays," she said with a laugh.
Ueda closed the event with a message about the story's underlying theme: the importance of talking about your worries with someone. "I want to thank the producers for always listening to my doubts and making me feel supported," she said.
The movie is already a huge success in Japan. Would you like to see it come to Latin America? Let us know in the comments.
