Black Clover: Mereoleona unveils her 'Hellfire Incarnate' form in the anime

The second season of Black Clover has shown Mereoleona Vermillion's 'Hellfire Incarnate' form for the first time in the series. The transformation appears in the most recent episode, during the assault on the Spade Kingdom that opens this new stage.

The anime returned after a five-year hiatus. The first season only adapted the opening stretch of the Spade Kingdom assault arc, and this continuation picks up the battle right where it left off. The series aired weekly from 2017 to 2021, when it caught up to the manga. After that, the manga moved to the quarterly Jump GIGA magazine, and the wait for the anime's return stretched on.

Mereoleona arrives at this fight after months of training to face the devils. Her new form requires fine control of fire magic, which she integrates into her own body. The transformation wraps her in intense flames and boosts her strength, but maintaining it for long has a cost. Up to now, the Crimson Lions captain had fought mostly on her physical ability; now she relies on her grimoire to sustain such a complex form.

'Hellfire Incarnate' had already appeared briefly in a non-canon movie, but this is the first time it has been seen in the main story.

The scene is part of the joint offensive by the Magic Knights and the Heart Kingdom mages against the Spade Kingdom. Mereoleona fights on the front line, and the episode devotes space to showing how she handles a technique she had not used before in the series.

The battle continues on October 17

The next episode, the third of the season, premieres on October 17, 2026. The news doesn't detail what will happen, but the offensive against the Spade Kingdom is still underway and Mereoleona has just deployed her most aggressive card.

The return of Black Clover rests on a long, combat-heavy arc. The previous adaptation stopped before the invasion reached its peak, so this season has several of the manga's most anticipated fights ahead of it.
