Image from the original Anitsu edition. The upcoming animated film BAAHUBALI: THE ETERNAL WAR PART 1 is slated for release in 2027. The project, presented at the Annecy Festival, brings together studios and talent from India, France, the UK, and Japan, with Studio Khara and SlowCurve as the Japanese additions.
Studio Khara will produce a dedicated animated sequence within the film. Direction is handled by Akira Honma, character design is by Noriko Ito, and Mahiro Maeda is involved as a key creative contributor. SlowCurve handles production planning and coordination between the Japanese team and the international teams.
The story follows Prince Amarendra Baahubali after he is killed: he enters the afterlife and joins an eternal war between devas and asuras across fourteen realms. The feature film is directed by Ishan Shukla, with a screenplay by Scott Mosier, and is envisioned as a two-part animated epic.
