Kung Fu Kung Fool, masterlynx's Indian manga, is now available in English
KadoComi publishes the action comedy from the Amravati duo under its Kadokawa World Manga label
The Indian duo masterlynx has released an English version of their manga Kung Fu Kung Fool. KadoComi is publishing it starting this Friday under Kadokawa World Manga, the label dedicated to releasing ongoing series in English. The label offers the initial and most recent chapters for free to readers outside Japan.
Kadokawa has been looking for creators outside Japan for a while, and this label also works as a platform for the Kadokawa World Manga Atelier, an initiative to discover and support international authors who want to develop original works.
An action comedy with a split personality
The story begins with Goemon, a thief who has turned his city upside down. He crosses paths with the Whiskers, a band of villains, because of a treasure guarded by Bao, a boy. Cornered with no way out, Goemon's second personality awakens: instinctive kung fu attacks that take down his enemies. From then on, a nonstop action comedy between Goemon and Bao.
The premise hides nothing: absurd action, mistimed punches, and a lead duo that promises chaos. The tone recalls those martial arts comedies where the joke and the fight go hand in hand, with no pretensions of realism.
From Kadokawa's contest to serialization
Jivan and Yash, the brothers behind masterlynx, come from Amravati, in Maharashtra. They are self-taught: they have been drawing manga since 2022 and have worked as amateur artists since then. In 2025 they entered Kadokawa's Wordless World Manga Contest and won the silver prize with their one-shot Heartsteel. That was the push they needed.
Kung Fu Kung Fool premiered on KadoComi's website on May 15. The series publishes a chapter on the third Friday of each month, and its first collected volume comes out in Japan on November 6. In October it took a break to prepare for that release; earlier, on August 26, the duo had already announced a short hiatus due to health issues, although the chapters continued to come out on schedule.
A workflow between two languages
The most interesting part of the announcement is how they work. masterlynx and their editor discuss the story and scenes together, and then they write the dialogue in English collaboratively. "We keep polishing them until we're satisfied," the duo explained. After that, their editor, Mr. O, translates the dialogue into Japanese for serialization.
It's an unusual workflow: the dialogue is first worked on in English and then translated into Japanese for publication. For a manga created outside Japan, that back-and-forth is a rarity worth following.
The first volume arrives in Japan in a week. Will you give Goemon and Bao's comedy a chance? Tell us in the comments.
