Mercedes of the Waning Moon anime reveals 4 new characters and their voices

The anime adaptation of Mercedes of the Waning Moon (Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes) keeps adding names to its cast. The production announced the voice actors for four characters who will accompany the protagonist on her dungeon adventure.

Kenta Miyake plays Benkei, Mercedes' loyal servant. Ryunosuke Watanuki voices Kuro, the wolf who becomes her companion. Junichi Suwabe is Florian, the receptionist at the explorers' guild. And Ai Kayano plays Ryudia, Mercedes' mother.

The announcement comes with a second promotional trailer that focuses on the protagonist's action scenes. The video also includes the voices of the new characters, to give us an idea of how they will sound in the series.

A luxury cast for Mercedes' allies

Benkei is a six-armed demon who guarded the gate to the last floor of the Stalk dungeon. After being defeated by Mercedes, he becomes her loyal servant. Miyake promises to give his all in the performance.

Kuro is a wolf of the Schwarz Wolfang species, fast and strong. He joins Mercedes after feeling the power difference between them. Watanuki confessed that he had a dog named Kuro in his childhood, and that he used those memories to bring the character to life.

Florian works at the guild in the city of Blut. Although he doesn't give Mercedes special treatment, he considers her a promising rookie. Suwabe joked about the character's "intense" look and left it up in the air whether he will be an ally or an enemy.

Ryudia is Mercedes' mother and wife of Lord Bernhardt, but she lives in poverty because she is a concubine. Even so, she deeply loves her daughter and is unfazed by her extravagant actions. Kayano describes her as charming and strong-willed, and hinted that her husband is a "fashion", without giving more details.

Mercedes' story

The original work is a light novel written by Entou and illustrated by KeG, published by TO Books. It also has a manga adaptation by Edaya Pochi.

The story follows Mercedes, a Japanese office worker who reincarnates as a noble vampire. Regretting her empty life, she decides to live without regrets and becomes a dungeon explorer to escape poverty.

The anime will premiere in January 2027. Kunihisa Sugishima is directing, with Jun Kumagai on series composition and Nami Somayama on character design. Animation is produced by studio Teddy.

The main cast is completed by Anna Nagase as Mercedes. The light novel has five volumes published in Japan, and the manga is on its sixth.
