Kazuyuki Okitsu joins the Firefly Wedding anime as Eishin Nitobe

The Firefly Wedding anime adds one more name to its cast. Kazuyuki Okitsu joins the series to voice Eishin Nitobe, as confirmed by the adaptation's team. The news comes with the broadcast already underway: the anime began airing in Japan on October 9, 2026.

Okitsu is no newcomer to the season. The actor also voices Mitsutaka Oji in Uncle's Obsession with Cute Things, another series still on air. So this fall you're hearing him twice over.

Direction is handled by Takahiro Kamei, director of the 2022 Urusei Yatsura series. Yuko Kakihara (The Aquatope on White Sand) is in charge of series composition, and Yukiko Aikei (Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, Aikatsu Stars!) handles character design. Animation is produced by David Production.

The story follows Satoko Kirigaya, a young noblewoman who doesn't have much time left to live. Determined to marry well and make her father proud, she ends up kidnapped by a ruthless assassin. In that extreme situation, she makes him a proposal that changes everything: "Marry me and we'll have it all." Shinpei Goto accepts, and what starts as a self-interested pact turns into a dangerous obsession.

Crunchyroll streams the anime in selected territories, so if you want to follow Satoko and Shinpei's story, that's the platform to go to.

The anime adapts the manga by Oreco Tachibana, which began serialization on Shogakukan's Manga ONE app in January 2023. The main story ended in January 2026, and Japan already has thirteen compiled volumes published as of October this year. VIZ Media holds the license for the English print edition.

With the manga just wrapped up and the anime in full broadcast, Eishin Nitobe's arrival adds one more piece to the story of Satoko and her dangerous marriage.
