Eel

A sewer cleaner lives a quiet, unremarkable life with his wife, but their fragile domestic peace is shattered when she suffers a miscarriage. The loss leaves both of them hollow, and discontent festers between them. Unable to find solace in their shared grief, his wife decides to leave him, returning to her former work as a hostess in the city's nightlife. Alone in the cramped apartment that once held their hopes, he is left to grapple with the emptiness of his days and the weight of his solitude.

One evening, while working in the sewers, he discovers two eels writhing in the murky water. He takes them home, grilling and eating one of them in a quiet, almost ritualistic act. The other eel, however, he spares, releasing it back into the sewer. This small, ambiguous gesture becomes a mirror for his own uncertain fate, caught between consumption and release, between holding on and letting go. As he returns to his routine, the line between his mundane existence and the dark currents beneath it begins to blur.
