In a quiet town, a young boy named Shiro lives with his grandfather, a retired magician. Shiro is fascinated by magic but struggles to master even the simplest spells. His grandfather, once a powerful wizard, now spends his days tending a garden and refuses to teach Shiro, believing the boy lacks the discipline needed for true magic.

One day, Shiro discovers a mysterious book in his grandfather's library that contains a spell to summon a familiar. Desperate to prove himself, he attempts the ritual and accidentally summons a mischievous creature named Kuro. Kuro is a shadowy being with a will of its own, and together they must navigate the consequences of Shiro's reckless act.
