In N City, sixteen girls have gained real magical powers, granted after winning the hit smartphone game Magical Girl Raising Project. Each was one of the rare lucky players, chosen from tens of thousands, and together they spend their days helping the city's citizens and enjoying the abilities the game gave them.
That arrangement changes when upper management announces a new rule: every week, the magical girl judged least productive will lose her gifts and return to ordinary life. What sounds like a simple incentive soon proves otherwise, as the conditions of the contest grow steadily more sadistic.
With their powers and their futures at stake, the girls start competing against one another. The bonds they formed while helping the city give way to suspicion, and staying useful turns into a struggle none of them expected.
