Years before the One Year War, the Zionic Corporation is developing a new type of piloted mobile machine, powered by a thermonuclear reactor shielded with Minovsky particles. Due to the secrecy and danger of the project, development is outsourced to Hosioka, a small and seemingly rundown steelworks plant.
This is not the story of the Zaku's exploits on the battlefield, but the story of the engineers and workers at Hosioka who must overcome the challenges of building the prototype that will become the father of all mobile suits.
