Buddha: The Great Departure

Finished

手塚治虫のブッダ-赤い砂漠よ!美しく-

In ancient India, a land gripped by drought, famine, and the harsh injustices of the caste system, the birth of Prince Siddhartha brings a glimmer of hope. Blessed with a profound destiny foretold by prophets, the young prince grows up shielded within palace walls, yet feels a deep disconnect from the martial and political ambitions expected of him.

While Siddhartha questions the very meaning of life, others struggle under the weight of societal oppression. Chapra, a boy born into slavery, fights to change his fate by any means necessary, even if it means joining the enemy army that threatens Siddhartha's kingdom. Their paths unfold against a backdrop of constant warfare and suffering.

As external threats loom and internal discontent grows, Siddhartha makes a fateful choice. He abandons his royal privileges to embark on a solitary journey into the wider world, seeking answers to the fundamental truths of human existence and a path to end universal suffering.
