Saru Kani Gassen (Yokoku)

A monkey and a crab cross paths in the countryside. The monkey tricks the crab into exchanging a rice ball for a persimmon seed, which the crab plants and nurtures. The tree grows and bears fruit, but the monkey refuses to share the ripe persimmons, instead throwing a hard, unripe one at the crab, injuring it.

Angered by the monkey's betrayal, the crab seeks revenge with the help of a chestnut, a bee, and a mortar. Together, they devise a plan to teach the monkey a lesson. This short is a teaser adaptation of the classic Japanese folktale "Saru Kani Gassen."
