Fairy-tale: Bunbuku Kettle

A tanuki uses its shape-shifting abilities to transform into a teakettle, tricking a priest into buying it. The priest takes the kettle home, but when he tries to boil water, the kettle grows legs and runs away.

Later, the tanuki is caught by a traveling merchant who decides to use the creature's talents for a stage performance. The tanuki performs tricks, balancing on a tightrope and dancing, drawing large crowds and earning money for its new owner.
