Mushiba no Kodomo no Tanjoubi
Finished虫歯のこどもの誕生日
A music video brings to life the song "Mushiba no Kodomo no Tanjoubi" by Norihito Yoshida. The animation, crafted by Tadahiko Horiguchi, visually interprets the lyrics, depicting a child's birthday celebration. The short was originally featured on NHK's Minna no Uta program, a segment known for showcasing animated music videos that blend storytelling with song.
The visuals follow a young child on their birthday, but the joy is tempered by the presence of a toothache. The song and animation explore the discomfort and lesson of dental hygiene, turning a simple birthday into a cautionary tale. Through Horiguchi's distinctive style, the music video captures both the innocence of childhood and the universal experience of a cavity, making the short a memorable piece of Japanese animation history.
