Bulma wants to wish for a perfect boyfriend, and Goku happens to have one of the balls. He refuses to give it up, so they strike a deal: he can join her journey if she borrows its power. Together, they set off on an adventure across the world. Along the way, they meet the wise Master Roshi and his eager disciple Krillin. Goku trains with them to become a stronger martial artist for the World Martial Arts Tournament. But the power of the Dragon Balls attracts dangerous enemies who seek to use them for evil.

With Linn now under her protection, she is inadvertently drawn into a dangerous conflict far beyond her initial quest.
