There was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her gets a second season

The second season of There was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her (Yusha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Ita node, Kokuhaku Shitemita.) is now official. The announcement comes after the first season aired during the winter 2026 season.

The series adapts the manga by Kairi published by Futabasha. The premise is simple: a demon falls in love with a priestess from the hero's party. Youki, reincarnated as a mid-level demon, had a single mission: to take down the hero's party. But upon seeing Cecilia, the priestess, he falls head over heels. Now this lovestruck demon vows to confess his feelings, even if it means betraying the Demon King.

The work didn't start as a manga. It began as a web novel by Suisei on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2013. Then came three light novel volumes, illustrated by La-na —whom the anime credits as the original character designer—, published between 2014 and 2015 under Futabasha's Monster Bunko label.

The first season's staff

The first season had a staff that mixes veterans and lesser-known names. Yasutaka Yamamoto, director of Actually, I Am, served as chief director. Tomonori Mine, of Isekai Onsen Paradise, directed the series. Yukie Sugawara, of Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again, handled series composition. Mina Osawa, of I Have a Crush at Work, designed the characters. Animation was handled by Gekkou.

As for the voices, Kohei Amasaki played Yoki and Kana Hanazawa played Cecilia. Two names who know the genre well and gave personality to a couple that, on paper, shouldn't work.

Crunchyroll's synopsis describes Youki as a reincarnated mid-level demon with a job: crush the hero's party. Then he sees Cecilia and falls in love. From there, he vows to confess his feelings even if it means betraying the Demon King. The question the platform poses is whether love will bloom between two sworn enemies.

The announcement gives no details about the second season's premiere date or any staff changes. It only confirms that the story continues.

The first season left the door open for more, and with such a direct premise, the second season has room to deepen the relationship between Youki and Cecilia. We'll have to see if the studio maintains the animation quality and if the romantic comedy keeps working without becoming repetitive.
