Anime Box brings back the full Catalan dub of Haikyu!!

The Anime Box platform has added the full Catalan dub of Haikyu!! to its catalog: all four seasons of the series and its OVAs. The news comes right after the announcement of the collector's edition Blu-ray of the complete series and gives Catalan-speaking fans back a version that had already been heard on television.

The Catalan dub aired on SX3, the children's channel of Catalonia's public broadcaster, which ran the entire animated adaptation so far. Now Anime Box is rescuing it and making it available to anyone who wants to enjoy the series with those voices.

The franchise has been in Spain for years thanks to Selecta Visión. The distributor released and dubbed in Spanish both the animated series and its OVAs, all in home video format. Currently, the anime is available on Netflix and Anime Box. On Crunchyroll you can find the series and also the film with dubbing.

The manga, for its part, is published by Planeta Cómic in Spain. So far, 42 volumes have been released in Spanish (volume 43 hits bookstores on November 18) and 19 in Catalan. When it launched in the country, it became the best-selling publication in Spain, ahead of any other book, magazine, or novel. This 2026, the publisher also began releasing the franchise's novels written by Kiyoko Hoshi.

The story behind the phenomenon

The series adapts the manga by Haruichi Furudate, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump between February 2012 and July 2020. It was one of the most popular series in Shueisha's weekly magazine and won the Best Shōnen Manga award at the 61st Shogakukan Manga Awards. In Japan, it was collected in forty-five volumes.

The story follows the career of Shoyo Hinata, who decides to dedicate himself to volleyball after seeing the Little Giants while still in elementary school. In his final middle school tournament, his team is crushed by Tobio Kageyama's team. Hinata joins the volleyball team when entering high school to get revenge on Kageyama, but to his surprise, Kageyama is also on the team. So two former rivals form a team with which they aim to win the national championship.
