Grand Blue Announces Its Fourth Season

The final episode of the third season of Grand Blue left a surprise for the end: the fourth season is already in production. The series' official website confirmed the news and also released a commemorative illustration.

The announcement comes just as the most recent season, which premiered on July 7, wraps up. This third installment was handled by Zero-G and Saber Works, while the first two were produced by Zero-G. The first aired in 2018 with 12 episodes, and the second arrived in the summer of 2025.

Crunchyroll simulcast the second and third seasons with subtitles in multiple languages. Amazon Prime Video, for its part, had the first.

A Comedy That Won't Let Go of Its Wetsuit

The anime adapts the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, which has been serialized in good! Afternoon magazine since April 2014. Kodansha released volume 26 on April 7, and volume 27 is scheduled for October 7. The series has over 11 million copies in circulation.

The story follows Iori Kitahara, who moves to the coastal city of Izu to study and ends up living in a diving shop. There, a college club that drinks more than it dives awaits him. The mix of absurd humor, distorted faces, and moments of genuine camaraderie has made the manga a benchmark in seinen comedy.

The announcement of this fourth season confirms that the franchise is still going strong seven years after the anime premiered. In 2020, there was also a live-action film produced by Warner Bros. Japan, which grossed over 452 million yen, about 3.1 million dollars.

For now, there is no release date or production team details for the new season. The illustration accompanying the announcement shows the characters with their usual energy, but without any hints about what's to come.
