Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu: The anime that portrays the chaotic world of manga now has its first trailer

The highly anticipated anime Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu, based on the workplace comedy created by Kuzushiro, is finally showing signs of life with its first official trailer. More than a year after its announcement, on February 27 a preview was revealed that not only introduces us to the peculiar protagonist trio, but also confirms the talented cast that will voice them in their leap to animation. Its premiere on Japanese television is scheduled for October 2025.

A stellar cast for a refreshing workplace comedy

The series follows the daily life of Nana Futami, a young rookie manga artist who gives her all at work, while dealing with the peculiar personality of Kaede Satou, her slightly older editor, and the unwavering efficiency of Mizuki Hazama, her assistant. Between tight deadlines, creative delusions, and the stress of the publishing industry, this anime promises to hilariously capture the ins and outs of the manga world.

A growing manga with Kuzushiro's signature

Published since 2019 in Kodansha's Comic Days magazine, this story has managed to establish itself with a fresh style and humor that resonates with those familiar with the reality of the Japanese publishing industry. The series is still ongoing and already has 11 collected volumes in Japan.

Kuzushiro is no stranger to animated adaptations. Their work Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, a yuri comedy that explores the dynamics between two girls with opposite personalities, was brought to television in 2014 with a series of 13 short episodes. It is currently available with Spanish subtitles on Crunchyroll.

Kuzushiro: An author with an unmistakable style

In addition to this workplace comedy, Kuzushiro has demonstrated their versatility with titles such as My Brother's Wife, a family drama that has been well received both in Japan and in Spain, where Planeta Cómic has published its first six volumes. Likewise, their yuri work The Moon on a Rainy Night, which portrays female relationships with unique sensitivity, is still being published through Distrito Manga.

With the adaptation of Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu, the manga artist returns to the world of animation with a proposal that will undoubtedly attract fans of slice of life and of the manga world from the inside.
