Death Stranding: Isolation reveals trailer, coming to Disney+ in 2027
The Kojima Productions anime will tell a new story in traditional 2D, with a script by Tow Ubukata.
Kojima Productions released the first trailer for Death Stranding: Isolation and the initial details of its story. The series shares the world of the Death Stranding video game but does not adapt its main plot: it presents an independent story animated in traditional 2D, set to premiere in 2027 on Disney+ and other Disney services.
First trailer for the Death Stranding: Isolation anime. The plot starts after Sam reconnects North America through the chiral network. The United States begins to come together again, although the connection brings consequences no one expected. The protagonist is a girl who was left isolated by the Death Stranding cataclysm and who, over time, decided to reject all contact with the outside world. A chance encounter drags her into an unknown world.
The protagonist sleeps wearing glasses with the word \u201cSLEEP\u201d written on them.Three other characters appear alongside her: an old man who connects with others in an inexplicable way, a soldier trapped in a cycle of war and destruction, and a boy furious at the absurdity of life. None of them follow the path of Sam or the members of Bridges.
The trailer shows a devastated world, full of giant craters, and a sleeping girl with glasses that have the word \u201cSLEEP\u201d written on them.
The studio E&H production is in charge of the animation. Takayuki Sano directs the series, Tow Ubukata handles composition and script, Ilya Kuvshinov is in charge of the original character designs, and Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer.
The project was announced in 2025. It is now confirmed that the series will explore \u201cthe price of reconnection\u201d and will expand the world and characters of Death Stranding from a different perspective than the game.
